In 2017, Raghav Gupta faced a common dilemma—he craved home-cooked meals but didn’t have the time (or budget) to cook daily, order takeout, or hire a private chef. His solution? Robotics. This led to the birth of Posha, a startup developing smart countertop robots that prepare meals with the help of computer vision.

How Posha Works

Posha simplifies cooking with a process inspired by your coffee machine—but for food. Here’s how it works:

Choose a Recipe – Browse Posha’s recipe library and pick your meal.

Gupta describes it as a "coffee machine for food," but with a key difference: Posha still requires some prep work from users, like chopping and ingredient shopping. While it doesn’t eliminate kitchen tasks entirely, it drastically cuts down the time spent cooking—by up to 70%, according to Gupta.

Who Is Posha For?

Posha isn’t for those who want a completely hands-off cooking experience. Instead, it’s designed for people who enjoy cooking a few times a week but want to streamline the process.

"Our customers are already spending an hour daily in the kitchen—planning, cooking, and cleaning," says Gupta. *"With Posha, they spend just 10-20 minutes."*

From Robotic Arm to Countertop Companion

Originally named Nymble, Posha started as a robotic arm. But after feedback from Bosch’s accelerator program, the team pivoted to a stationary countertop model—something easier to clean and more kitchen-friendly.

Gupta emphasizes a customer-first approach:

The team communicates directly with users via WhatsApp (no Zendesk here!).
Gupta even moved to the U.S. during the pandemic to stay close to early adopters.

What’s Next for Posha?

The company recently raised an $8 million Series A (led by Accel) to expand its recipe library and integrate generative AI, allowing users to suggest meal ideas that the robot can quickly adapt into recipes.

Since launching in January 2025, Posha’s first batch sold out, and preorders for the next are already open. Priced at $1,750, the device is gaining traction through word-of-mouth—and Gupta has big ambitions.

"Think about microwaves, dishwashers, and refrigerators—they all started as countertop devices before becoming kitchen essentials," he says. "We believe Posha is on the same path."
